Indications
Bowel resection may be indicated for:
- blockage of the intestine (intestinal obstruction) due to scar tissue or tumors
- bleeding, due to diverticulosis or arteriovenous malformations
- injuries
- cancer
- precancerous polyps
- familial polyposis
- infection, due to diverticulitis
