Calculating Body Frame Size
|
Body frame size is determined by a person's wrist circumference in relation to his height. For example, a man whose height is over 5' 5" and wrist is 6" would fall into the small-boned category. Determining frame size:To determine the body frame size, measure the wrist with a tape measure and use the following chart to determine whether the person is small, medium, or large boned.Women: - height under 5'2"
- small = wrist size less than 5.5"
- medium = wrist size 5.5" to 5.75"
- large = wrist size over 5.75"
- height 5'2" to 5' 5"
- small = wrist size less than 6"
- medium = wrist size 6" to 6.25"
- large = wrist size over 6.25"
- height over 5' 5"
- small = wrist size less than 6.25"
- medium = wrist size 6.25" to 6.5"
- large = wrist size over 6.5"
Men: - height over 5' 5"
- small = wrist size 5.5" to 6.5"
- medium = wrist size 6.5" to 7.5"
- large = wrist size over 7.5"

Isometric Exercise
|
Isometric exercise works muscles and strengthens bone. Increased muscle mass elevates metabolism, which in turn burns fat. Strength training is also called anaerobic exercise, as opposed to aerobic, because increased oxygen production is not required.

Fast Food
|
Fast foods are quick, reasonably priced, and readily available alternatives to home cooking. While convenient and economical for a busy lifestyle, fast foods are typically high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt and may put people at risk for becoming overweight.

Healthy Diet
|
For a healthy diet, replace unhealthy and fattening foods with healthier alternatives, such as fresh fruits and vegetables.

|

Fish in Diet
|
Fish is a great alternative to red meat. Fish is a healthy, lean protein and contains a type of fat called "omega-3," which may help protect the heart.

Hunger Center in Brain
|
It takes time for the body to recognize that you have eaten and for the feeling of hunger to go away. Eating too quickly may cause you to eat more food over the same period of time as eating slowing and allowing your body to feel "full".

Muscle Cells vs. Fat Cells
|
To lose weight, you must burn more calories than you eat. Exercise is the best way to do this. When you exercise regularly, you build stronger muscles, even if you do not work out with weights. Muscles use more calories than fat throughout the day, even while you are resting. This contributes to what is commonly called a "faster metabolism."

Yo-Yo Dieting
|
Slow and steady weight loss is the only way to avoid "yo-yo dieting," where you lose a great deal of weight, only to regain it within a few months or years. There are no miracles in weight loss; go for steady progress toward a healthier life.

Weight Loss
|
Losing excess weight by eating a healthy diet is one of the best ways of helping to prevent disease. Obesity increases the risk of illness and death due to diabetes, stroke, coronary artery disease, and kidney and gallbladder disorders. The more overweight, the higher the risk becomes.
