Mitral Regurgitation - Acute

Definition

Acute mitral regurgitation is disorder in which the heart's mitral valve suddenly does not close properly, causing blood to leak (back-flow) into the left atrium (upper heart chamber) when the left ventricle (lower heart chamber) contracts.
