Heterophil Agglutination Tests
|
The heterophil agglutination test examines the blood for two antibodies that indicate if an individual is infected with the Ebstein Barr virus. The antibodies are incited in response to the presence of an antigen. Antigens are microorganisms or other foreign proteins that have entered the body that stimulate an immune response.
