Calling Your Health Care Provider
Most croup can be safely managed at home with telephone support from your health care provider. Children should be seen immediately for any of the following:

Constant stridor (noise during breathing in)

A possible foreign body or an insect sting as the cause of croup

Dusky lips or bluish coloration of the skin

Struggling to breathe
-
Retractions (tugging-in between the ribs when breathing in)

Drooling
-
Agitation or extreme irritability
-
Not responding to home treatment
